Wine and Dine Sydney trio couldn’t find a roaming dinner party company on northern beaches - so started one

Diners could enjoy a starter in Seaforth, main in Manly and a dessert in Dee Why thanks to a new dinner party concept.
Wine and Dine Sydney will offer northern beaches locals the chance to join a “roaming” dinner party.
Already on offer in the Eastern suburbs, the concept, also known as a “safari supper” is nothing new, but is undergoing a revival.
A trio of Manly-based Brits have set up a company to roll out the events.
Engineers Shaun Daly, 27, Matt Manton, 25, and financial adviser Luke Mollkin, 30, attended events in the eastern suburbs.
They also came across them in London.
But they were disappointed there was nothing similar north of the harbour, so set up a company to run their own, called Wine and Dine Sydney.
Mr Daly said one reason some people are attending is because they hope to find romance — but dating isn’t the only reason the parties are proving popular.
“One of our friends has been doing similar events in the UK. There’s a few in the city, but nothing on the northern beaches,” he said.
“It’s a bit of everything. Dating’s obviously a good part, at the end of the day it’s just to make new friends.”
Diners are asked to form same sex groups of four, and after buying tickets, they’ll be matched with a different group to visit for each course.
At the first event, the women will host and do the cooking, while the men will “roam”, and supply the wine. Next time, the roles will swap.
Later, all the groups who took part will meet for an after-party at Daniel San on North Steyne.
A ride-sharing service will be lined up to provide transport between the hosts.
The event is aimed at 18-35 year olds, and in the future the trio are keen to put an extra spin on the idea.
“We’ve got lots of ideas, like a five dessert event,” said Mr Daly.
The first event is on February 27 and early bird tickets cost $20 per person. Ticket costs rise closer to the event.
