TWO properties on the northern beaches were raided by police last night and two Chatswood men were subsequently charged with manufacturing a commercial quantity of the drug ice.

The raids at Killarney Heights and Cromer follow an investigation by the State Crime Command’s Gangs Squad, Strike Force Raptor and detectives from Northern Beaches local area command to investigate drug-related criminal activity in Sydney.

When police raided the isolated home below Killarney Rd at Killarney Heights, they allegedly found an active clandestine drug laboratory.

The home, which is well below Killarney Drive and has no road access, was in the news in July when Warringah Council erected concrete barriers along Killarney Drive to prevent the owner of the property illegally building an inclinator.

In late July, Roads and Maritime Services removed a pontoon on the foreshore of Middle Harbour that was used to gain access to the property.

The property was formerly owned by the Mosman Rowing Club, which has no connection with the current owner of the land.

At the same time as the Killarney Heights property was being raided, police raided a factory complex on Middleton Rd at Cromer and allegedly found material police believe is consistent with the manufacture of drugs.

Two Chatswood men – aged 45 and 28 – were arrested at the Killarney Heights property and taken to Manly police station, where they were interviewed by detectives.

The 28-year-old Chatswood man was charged with manufacturing a commercial quantity of a prohibited drug and resisting arrest.

Both men were refused bail.
