Touching Instagram photo shows San Francisco 49er ‘Uncle’ Jarryd Hayne with ‘baby JJ’

FORMER NRL star and San Francisco 49er Jarryd Hayne has posted a touching Instagram photo of himself craddling “baby JJ”.

JARRAD Roberts wasn’t the first baby born on the peninsula this year.

But he was the first to have his birth broadcast to the football world via the Instagram account of his father Jarrad’s close mate, Jarryd Hayne, in a unique trio of names.

And the famous 49ers running back, who is in Sydney for a visit, was quick to post his congrats via @Jarradhayne38 saying : “Meeting baby JJ. Too cute. Getting a couple arm pumps in with uncle.”

Baby Jarrad was two weeks early when he arrived at Manly Hospital at 12.18pm on January 1. For the record, he was 47.5cm long and weighed 3.2kg.

His mum Becky of Dee Why said: “It feels great – I loved every second of it – and he’s such a good little boy.”

Jarrad’s dad said Becky was on cloud nine and he isn’t far behind.

“Jarrad is our first and it feels really good,” he said.

The first baby born on the peninsula was Oscar Batey who arrived 2.29am on January 1 to Scots-born dad Linzie Batey and mum Emily Lockhart.

The pair spent five months in Australia two years ago and then decided they wanted to come back for good.

He’s a carpenter and she’s an English teacher, so they had no trouble getting visas and have been living at Queenscliff for four months.

And Mr Batey can see the funny side of being a Scottish couple with an Australian baby but what he wasn’t prepared for was the sheer joy of fatherhood.

“No one explained how it would feel,” he said. “It’s like being on top of the world or being on another planet.”

Young Oscar was due on Christmas Eve but it was not until 10am on New Year’s Eve that his mum went into labour.

Also for the record, Oscar was 54cm long and weighed 4.3kg.
