The Wiggles Adult show one of ‘best gigs’ ever, says Purple Wiggle, Jeff

THE northern beaches’ own Wiggle says the anniversary gig held at Dee Why RSL could be the start of many more for the children’s supergroup.

Purple Wiggle Jeff Fatt, 62, from Fairlight, described Friday’s concert as “insane” and said it was one of the highlights of his 20 years touring the world with the group.

“It was one of the best gig’s I’ve ever done,” said Fatt.

“The audience were totally into it from start to finish.”

The reunion came about when Blue Wiggle Anthony Field, who is still in the group, was asked by a drunk fan while on tour in regional NSW to do a reunion gig.

The event raised around $20,000 for charity Soldier On and David Savage, Australia’s first civilian wounded overseas.

In a far cry from a usual Wiggles show, fans were able to buy beer at the event, for over 18s.

Despite a power cut, which saw the encore, classic tune Hot Potato carry on in the dark, fans lapped up the show, which saw the three new Wiggles perform backing vocals.

Joe McGee from Dee Why RSL booked the gig, and said: “The doors opened and there was a rush for the front of the stage.

Alcohol was on offer at the gig.

“Who doesn’t want to go back to being a kid? It really was incredible.”

But devotees who missed out could be in with another chance of dancing along with their childhood heroes, with more gigs planned.

Fatt said: “It’s just getting the availability of everyone.

“We would love to take it around to all the major centres. It would be a blast.”
