NORTH Narrabeen pro surfer Laura Enever scored a rare perfect 10 wave in her bid to get back to the quarterfinals of the Fiji Pro at Cloudbreak.

The 24-year-old performed several awe-inspiring carves and turns on one of the larger waves caught at that point in the competition on Monday.

Evever shared a video of her epic feat, saying “My first 10 on tour! Thank you for the perfect wave Cloudbreak I love you.”

In an email from Fiji, she told the Manly Daily: “I’m so stoked to get my first 10 point ride on the world tour, I love surfing cloudbreak and all of the women have been surfing so well.

“It’s such a dream to compete here in these waves and Im so happy to have performed well and to have made the quarter finals.”

But her perfect wave was not enough to hold off three-time world champion Carissa Moore at Fiji’s Cloudbreak Reef.

Enever fought to the bitter end to take out the world champ, but despite the promising start could not defeat Moore’s two-wave total of 18.46, scoring 16.50.

Her loss in the high-scoring affair did not count her out, Moore went directly into the quarterfinals with the win, while Enever would have to slog it out in round four to gain a place in the quarters.

Enever, world number 12 and 2015 Australian Open of Surfing champion, then defeated Hawaiian Malia Manuel to gain entry to the quarterfinals. However she was again beaten by Moore.

Perfect 10

World Surfing League rules dictate that a panel of five judges score each wave from one to 10.

For every wave scored the highest and lowest score are taken off and the surfer recieves the average of the three middle scores.

The two best scoring waves are combined to make a surfer’s final score out of 20.

Judges measure, degree of difficulty, innovation, combination of manouvres, speed flow and power in their analyses.
