Slash your real estate agent commission and help charity

ONE property owner about to sell has the chance to enjoy reduced agent commission fees and know they are helping cancer research at the same time.

ONE  northern beaches property owner has the chance to sell their home at a hugely reduced commission rate as part of afundraiser.

McGrath principal Jill Rafferty will donate her entire commission for one sale to brain cancer research in an auction next Friday at Mona Vale Golf Club.

Normally, the senior agent would charge between 1.7 per cent and 2 per cent of the property’s value, equating to $40,000 on a $2 million home.

“But they might get me for a fraction of the price,” Ms Rafferty said.

“And I’ll donate the full amount to brain cancer research.”

Interested homeowners must indica-te how much they are willing to pay to get Ms Raff-erty’s services by next Thursday.

There is no minimum amount, and she is happy to inspect a property and give owners a guide of what their home is worth.

The winning bidder has three months to take up the offer.

The fundraiser is in honour of 10-year-old Lachie Muldoon of Collaroy (pictured), who died last year from an aggressive form of brain cancer.

Family friends set up the Love for Lachie fundraising group but Lachie’s family has asked that all money raised be given to the UNSW brain cancer research team that is working on speeding up personalised treatment for people with brain cancer.

“I am delighted to be able to help a close client and friend of mine who has recently lost her son by raising funds to go to the research of children with brain cancer – a cause that is a close to my heart,” said Ms Rafferty.

The Love for Lachie fundraising group is holding a charity golf day, an auction and a lunch next Friday at the Mona Vale Golf Club.
