Secret Cocktail: Popular drink, which includes two margaritas and a beer, is talk of social media

WANT a cocktail that’s so hot that it’s not even on the menu? Manly cantina Chica Bonita has just the drink.

Lagerita, a Corona and margarita mash up, is the crazy cocktail that’s grabbing all the attention in the restaurant and on social media.

The laneway bar has its own name for the beer-based cocktail, co-owner Sean Miller said.

“We call it a mega margarita, it’s our secret drink and isn’t even on our menu,” he said. “Customers come in and see other people drinking them and ask for one.”

The $22 drink is made with two margaritas and bottled lager.

It is served upside down in a salted-rimmed vase and sipped through a straw.

The beer empties slowly into the vase. Its fame has spread by social media, Mr Miller said.

With its mix of beer and margarita, manager Aaron Roberts said the drink had proven to be particularly popular for couples.

“We get a lot of couples who share these and we definintely recommend sharing them because it’s a good chunk of drink right there,” he said.

“It’s a little bit like Lady and the Tramp when they get sucking through the straws.”

2 shots of tequila

1 shot of triple sec

1 shot of simple syrup

3-4 shots of lime juice

1 Corona

1 wedge of lime
