A MUM who designed a head support for children sleeping in cars has been nominated for a national award.
Leanne Guglielmi, of Belrose, said it broke her heart every time she saw her son’s head fall when he dropped off to sleep in the car.
MUMS ARE CHOOSING TO START NEW BUSINESS FROM HOME
His discomfort inspired her to design a band which wraps around the top of a car seat and keeps the forehead upright.
Originally she thought it was a little project she could do at home until her two boys were old enough for her to go back to work in the corporate sector.
However, three years down the road and her home-based business is about to take off.
“I thought I was going to be a stay-at-home mum who sold a few of these head support bands at the market once a month,” said Mrs Guglielmi, 37, and mother of Valentino, 7, and Orlando, 4.
“But I’m now working on it three full days a week, on and off on the other days, and during the evenings.”
The support, aimed at children aged from one to six years, is called the Cozy Dozee and costs around $38.
Mrs Guglielmi joins eight other northern beaches mums who have been nominated for the 2014 AusMumpreneur Awards.
