Manly sharks to outback tornadoes, YouTube user Terry Tufferson has us hooked

The YouTube user who made Sydney residents scared to jump in the water is at it again, this time with an unbelievable outback clip.

Remember the guy who sent YouTube and social media into a frenzy with the GoPro great white shark video filmed near Manly?

YouTube user Terry Tufferson is at it again, this time with another epic video of a man seemingly posing for a selfie in front of an outback tornado.

The video shows the man with a broad Australian accent driving in the outback towards a large tornado or willy willy.

“That is absolute daredevil status right there,” the man says as he drives towards the whirling tower of dust.

“Far out, that is grouse.”

He then runs out of the car and towards the willy willy, posing amid the roaring dust before retreating to the car as it violently blows over.

While not quite replicating the shark video’s viral reach, the new clip amassed more than 260,000 views in a day.

However Digital Video Experts owner Richard Farr said seasoned editors could see the telltale signs of sneaky editing.

“It is a very creative fake,” Mr Farr said.

“There are a few dead giveaways. For starters, when he opens the car door, you can see the reflection of the subject with a clear blue sky — no dust, no tornado. If a tornado was upon the subject, which the storyline indicates, this reflection would clearly show a dusty background.”

Mr Farr said a dark line on the horizon also indicated an editing mask — used to insert another video or effect.

Tufferson took YouTube by storm in June when he posted a video of a man leaping off Jump Rock at Collins Beach, a notorious jumping spot in Manly, with a GoPro camera strapped to his head.

As he comes to the surface he hears his friends shouting ‘shark’, before coming face-to-face with a great white.

The shark video went viral, attracting more than 2 million views in 48 hours.

However the focus quickly turned to debunking the video, as online sleuths looked for evidence to prove the video was fake.
