One of the most glamorous weekend jobs around is up for grabs.

The Manly Seabirds, the cheerleaders for the Manly Warringah Sea Eagles, are hunting for new girls.

Auditions, for over 18s will be held on Wednesday and only skilled dancers with poise, personality and enthusiasm – as well as a figure to show off the glamorous but skimpy outfits – need apply.

Girls – who get $150 a game – must train one night a week and perform at all the home games plus finals.

New recruits also attend a ‘puff and fluff’ party to learn how to get their hair and make-up match ready.

Staying in shape is important – with rules stating girls can be ditched if they put on weight or get too thin.

Sea Birds boss Monique Carroll, wife of former NRL player Mark Carroll, said it could be tough. “We are a winter sport and everybody wants to get cosy and eat comfort food, but the girls still have to hit the gym and pound the pavement,” she said.

Anybody looking to bag a sports star boyfriend should note – the girls are not allowed to date players.

Melissa Juergens, 20, is about to start her third season in the squad. The Sydney University student from Davidson said becoming a Seabird is the best thing she’s ever done. “It’s such a fun atmosphere,” she said.
