An independent community meeting has been called for this Friday, encouraging Northern Beaches residents to have their say on the controversial council amalgamations.

The meeting, to be held at North Curl Curl on Friday night, has been organised by local lobby group – “The Voice Project” – which is calling for one northern beaches council.

North Manly local and organiser Kym Weekes said peninsula residents just want their voices heard.

“We want to raise awareness that there are a lot of people that are confused, disillusioned and really unhappy that they’ve had no voice in this process,” she said.

Ms Weekes said the public inquiry that has been organised by the State Government was not good enough.

“There’s only one public inquiry and as a resident in Warringah, we’ve got two meetings happening at the same time on the opposite ends of the beach.”

“People don’t know where to go – especially if you’re living right on the border.”

Ms Weekes said she wants to keep the campaign message positive. “We want to be a united front, we’re a beautiful community and a great council in a fantastic area.”

More than 150 people are expected to attend.

MEETING DETAILS:

WHERE: North Curl Curl Community Centre (ex bowling club) – corner of Abbott and Griffin roads, North Curl Curl.
