ON a sunny day in Manly, have you ever felt like you’re on top of the world while strolling through The Corso?

Korean tightrope master Dae-Gyun Kim certainly did, after risking life and limb to walk across a tightrope on The Corso last Friday afternoon.

The famed tightrope-walking expert put on a dazzling display for spectators, while holding his nerve.

Master Kim put on a 20-minute performance over the infrastructure, with the rope about 3m high off the ground.

Master Kim — along with several other Korean entertainers — was in Manly to celebrate a sister city partnership between Manly and the Korean town of Yeongdo-Gu.

Manly Mayor Jean Hay was among the many who were impressed by the performances.

“I thought it was very good,” she said.

“Lets be honest, you very rarely see something like this on a Friday afternoon — somebody walking the tightrope.”

Cr Hay said officials from Yeongdo-Gu first approached Manly in 2008 to discuss becoming a sister city.

She said the city was similar to Manly in that it was about the same geographical size and surrounded by water.
