Justin Bieber’s Sydney skating clash with Mel Gibson movie actor
A SYDNEY actor has recounted his ‘unbielieberble’ meeting with popstar Justin Bieber when the singing superstar was in town.
ACTOR Luke Pegler might be in the new Mel Gibson flick but it was another famous name who he made an impression on recently.
Pegler was at Fox Studios in the city recording scenes for the Gibson-directed Hacksaw Ridge.
The 34-year-old, who said his character in the war film spent rather a lot of time in the nude, wandered back to his trailer — wearing only a modesty sock.
It was then he had a surprising encounter.
“I noticed this kid was skating around the area where all the cast trailers were,” he told #beachlife.
“I was thinking, ‘Security’s usually pretty tight. Who let in this kid?’
“He has ridiculous hair, hat backwards, weird clothes. I approached — I wanted to tell him to head out.
“And then I realised it was Justin Bieber.
“He was doing something for X Factor — and I was just standing there in this modesty sock.”
Pegler admitted he’s not a fan of Biebs but did hit it off with his castmates.
He said Vince Vaughn was “hilarious” and he also became pals with Gibson’s son Milo, 25, who appears in the film, as well as Christian, who’s on the crew.
Because of that, it wasn’t daunting to work with the Aussie Oscar winner.
“Mel’s great, it was just Milo and Christian’s dad,” he said.
Pegler, a Manly resident for more than a decade after moving from WA, has appeared in Neighbours and Packed To The Rafters.
He ended up on the northern beaches as his pal Jaron Mitchell, who runs Manly micro brewery 4 Pines, was already here.
But initially his place in Freshwater wasn’t exactly suited to a movie star.
“There were four on the lease but always seven or eight people — and a tent in the backyard,” he said.
These days, Pegler is in Little Manly. And, even though he is auditioning in LA, he has no plans to leave.
“You will walk into Manly with no plans and you’ll always bump into someone you know,” he said.
He said a fave was Manly Gourmet Thai. “It’s down a little alley but it’s so amazing.”
