Cocaine, cannabis, cash and guns allegedly seized in raids

POLICE say they confiscated guns, cash and drugs during raids across the city yesterday as part of an operation targeting the large-scale supply of cocaine on the northern beaches.

GUNS, cash and drugs were allegedly seized by Northern Beaches police during raids at Punchbowl, Concord and Picnic Point yesterday.

Police said the drugs – cocaine, cannabis and an unidentified white powder – were allegedly seized as part of an operation targeting the large-scale supply of cocaine on the northern beaches.

Strike Force Enigma was formed by Northern Beaches detectives in April to investigate cocaine supply and, following inquiries, yesterday stopped a car in Revesby in which they allegedly found 30g of cocaine.

The 53-year-old driver of the car was later charged with supply a commercial quantity of a prohibited drug possessing a prohibited drug.

About 8.45am, Northern Beaches detectives with the assistance of the South West Metropolitan Regional Enforcement Squad Unit, the Public Order Riot Squad, Gordon Region Enforcement Squad and the police dog unit, executed search warrants at three homes on Wattle St, Punchbowl.

They allegedly seized 800g of cannabis, 60g of cocaine, more than $38,000 in cash, numerous guns and weapons, including a replica pistol and a sawn off shotgun, ammunition, digital money counters and an unopened safe believed to contain a sum of cash.

A 25-year-old man was subsequently charged with five offences, including possessing a prohibited drug, supply an indictable quantity of a prohibited drug and dealing with property suspected of being the proceeds of crime.

About 7.30pm police searched a home on Carinya St, Picnic Point, and allegedly seized 93g of cocaine, 312g of an unidentified white powder, a revolver and ammunition and more than $130,000 in cash.

A 48-year-old man was arrested and charged with 10 offences, including possessing an unauthorised firearm, possess ammunition, indictable drug supply offences and dealing in the proceeds of crime.

A further search warrant was executed at a home on Duke Av, Concord, where a small amount of cocaine was allegedly seized.

Police investigations into the supply of cocaine on the northern beaches are continuing.
