TV presenter Carrie Bickmore and cricket star Brett Lee have paid tribute to ‘beautiful’ Collaroy boy Lachie Muldoon, who died from brain cancer last year, in moving video messages.

The messages were played at the Love For Lachie fundraising golf day which raised more than $90,000 for brain cancer research.

In her message, mum-of-two Bickmore said brain cancer kills more children in Australia than any other disease and urged people to make a donation.

The Project host lost her husband to the illness in 2010.

“I hope you raised so, so, so much money in memory of beautiful Lachie,” she said.

Former Test cricketer Brett Lee reminisced about visiting Lachie at his home in Collaroy during his illness last September.

He said Lachie was an “amazing kid” with a “heart of gold”.

“The determination and courage he showed in life has really showed a lot of people, me in particular, what life is all about,” he said.

“We miss the little fella, I hate to imagine what (Lachie’s family) Tanja, Brendan and Jamie have been through.“

Described as a “top kid”, the always smiling, bright and sporty youngster died of an aggressive form of brain cancer last October.

His loving parents Tanja and Brendan and little sister Jaime teamed up with friends and family to organise the golf day at Mona Vale Golf Course on Friday hosted by the Grill Team’s Gus Worland.

Family friend Meredith O’Ryan who helped organise the day said they were amazed at the final tally of $90,000 and “so grateful”.

The money will be used to fund an additional researcher for UNSW brain cancer research team to investigate personalised medicine.

“We were blown away by the generosity in the room at the golf day and in the community,” Ms O’Ryan said.

“If Lachie’s legacy can mean anything, it is changing the life of other families.”

She said Lachie was “a joy to be around”.
