Four of the five bedrooms have their own bathroom, there is a schmick kitchen much larger than a galley affair and the home also has a new swimming pool with views north to Cape Three Points.

It is believed the retreat has been bought by Mr Joyce for himself and his partner, Shane Lloyd.

Peter Robinson, of LJ Hooker Palm Beach, wouldn’t comment on the sale even though the house was listed with his office.

He did say however that while Palm Beach and Whale Beach had a very slow and lacklustre year activity picked up in November with buyers suddenly seeing value and snapping up weekenders. In Iluka Rd, Palm Beach a $10 million sale has quietly traded this month — the highest price paid in Palm Beach all year.

Palm Beach continues to be the go-to suburb for corporate high-flyers and celebrities wanting privacy and a beach culture.

“Palm Beach is so laid-back,” Mr Robinson said.

“No one cares who you are.”
