IF YOU’RE taking a break from catching Pokemons, why not try eating one?
The Classic Cupcake Co. in Mosman has made four Pokémon-inspired cupcakes to treat tired and hungry trainers.
On Sunday the store will give away at least 200 mini versions of the cupcakes to the public.
Larger versions of the Pokémon-inspired cupcakes will also be for sale on Sunday.
The limited edition line took about five weeks to develop.
But these sweet treats are far from copycat cupcakes with an edible picture of each character on top.
Owner Anna Eden said she wanted the cupcakes to embody the creatures’ personalities and characteristics.
The Pikachu cupcake embodies electricity.
The chocolate cupcake has an electric, tangy lemon buttercream icing which contains popping candy.
“As you eat it, it explodes in your mouth,” Ms Eden said.
The Bulbasaur cupcake was inspired by the half dinosaur, half leafy, grassy creature.
The mint chocolate cupcake has a two-tone blue-green mint buttercream icing.
The Charmander cupcake is all about fire.
The red velvet cupcake has an orange and red buttercream icing over a hot chilli chocolate button.
Ms Eden said people could remove the chocolate button if they wanted to, but it was meant to be eaten all together.
“It’s very hot, so we don’t recommend this one for children,” she said.
“It will set your mouth on fire.
“It’s kind of, can you handle it? This one’s our challenge cupcake.”
The Squirtle cupcake is about water and was inspired by the turtle creature.
The vanilla cupcake has light blue buttercream icing and hides a surprise.
“He looks all innocent, like he doesn’t have any special powers underneath his hard shell,” Ms Eden said.
“Until you bite into him and he has a very soft aqua liquid centre.”
Surprisingly, Ms Eden knew little about Pokémon Go before she developed the cupcakes at the request of her team.
She has never played the game.
“I’m too busy creating cupcakes,” she said.
“I succumbed to peer pressure; everyone here talks about it all the time.
“But I’ve Ioved it, it’s been great.”
The Classic Cupcake Co. is at 1/167 Avenue Rd, Mosman.
