NORTHERN Suburbs stars will feature prominently in the next generation of NSW Waratahs, currently being brought through the ranks by coach Daryl Gibson.

Norths captain Will Miller led a Tahs team in last Friday’s pre-season trial against the Highlanders, which was full of new faces, including other Norths guns Hugh Sinclair, Pat Tafa and Shute Shield top tryscorer for 2018, Richard Woolf.
Coach Gibson is planning to extend his tenure by another year and finish in 2020.
Having been in danger of getting the sack midway through last year, Gibson turned the Tahs around and got them to the semi-finals, earning him a one-year extension.
An additional year would see the former All Black equal Ewen McKenzie’s record of five seasons at the helm.
“I’m really close to staying on here, I’m really enjoying my time,” said Gibson, who took over from Michael Cheika in 2016. “I want to bring that next generation through.
“I’m in a really good place here with the squad at present.”
With a stack of big-name Tahs off-contract this year and being linked with overseas moves, including Bernard Foley, Nick Phipps and Curtis Rona, Gibson is aware of the imminent turnover in personnel.
