Police are investigating after stumbling across a multimillion hydroponic cannabis at a rural property on the Mid-North Coast.
About 1.20pm Sunday, emergency services were called to a rural property on Willi Willi Rd, Turners Flat, after reports of a large amount of smoke.
Upon arrival, crews from Fire and Rescue NSW, NSW Rural Fire Service and National Parks and Wildlife Service attended to contain a blaze, which had spread into nearby bushland.
When police arrived they noticed several greenhouses on the property which were found to contain an estimated 2000 cannabis plants varying in maturity.
The estimated potential street value of the plants seized was around $6 million.
A crime scene was established and held overnight; with further officers deployed on Monday to dismantle the crops.
Police say the plants will be seized and destroyed.
An investigation into the hydroponic set up has commenced and anyone with information is urged to contact Port Macquarie Police or Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
