A man with a violent past has lashed out again, throwing a Coke bottle at a woman’s head, ripping her pyjamas and punching her in the face before she fled to a room with a friend and called the police.

A Mid-North Coast man with a violent past has lashed out again, throwing a Coke bottle at a woman’s head, ripping her pyjamas and punching her in the face before she fled to a room and called the police.
Leighlan Brown from Hyland Park at Nambucca Heads was sentenced in Macksville Local Court on Thursday in relation to the violent outburst on the morning of October 18 last year.
A female friend was staying with Brown and his partner at the time and witnessed the incident unfold – later hiding in a room with her friend and calling the police.
Brown was looking through his partner’s phone that morning and noticed texts between his partner and the friend which spoke about relationship problems between the pair, according to court documents.
He became angry and a verbal argument erupted, with Brown throwing a Coke bottle towards his partner’s head which missed and smashed a window behind her, court documents outline.
Brown then grabbed his victim and ripped her pyjamas, then used a fist to punch her to the left side of her face and neck area causing immediate pain.
Her friend came to intervene and the pair hid in a bedroom where they called the police while Brown took a shower, according to police facts.
When police arrived Brown was leaving the home and told police he had pushed his partner and smashed a window.
He was arrested and charged at Macksville police station with two charges of common assault and one charge of destroying or damaging property.
He pleaded guilty to a charge of common assault and property damage, and one charge of assault was withdrawn.
He was sentenced to a 15-month community correction order and must report to the Community Corrections District Office at Orange where he plans to relocate.
According to court documents he has prior convictions for domestic violence offences, including assault causing actual bodily harm and common assault, for which he was given a two-year community corrections order and fined $200 in Dubbo Local Court in March 2015.
