PHOTOS: Wauchope police vehicle set alight, inquiries continue

A police vehicle was set alight outside a precinct on the state’s Mid North Coast earlier this year. Now, a strike team has been established to find the firebug.

The tragic truth about road deaths in Australia

Authorities suspect petrol was poured on the driver’s side of a local police vehicle before it was set alight.

Dramatic images show a completely destroyed NSW Police paddy wagon, which was torched outside a Mid North Coast precinct earlier this year.

The public has been called upon for help, with Mid North Coast officers encouraging witness or anyone with information to come forward.

The car was found at about 10.15pm on Friday, April 29, when officers found the vehicle alight outside Wauchope Police Station on Young Street.

Fire and Rescue NSW attended and extinguished the blaze a short time later.

Detectives have established Strike Force Anear to investigate the circumstances surrounding the incident.

As inquiries continue, police have released images of a light-coloured, single cab ute.

It is believed the driver of the vehicle might be able to assist with their inquiries.

Anyone with information is urged to contact Wauchope Police on (02) 6585 1404 or Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
