A mid north coast teen has been caught drink driving on his L-plate while facing allegations he assaulted multiple police officers and was in possession of drugs.

Daniel James Blunt, 18, was charged with special range drink driving on May 25 this year after a roadside breath test on John Oxley Dr in Port Macquarie returned a result of 0.024.

The legal blood alcohol limit for L-platers is zero.

During his arrest, police will allege they also found 26.4g of cannabis and that Blunt both assaulted and intimidated two police officers.

Blunt has now pleaded guilty to the special range drink driving and a single charge of cannabis possession.

The Port Macquarie teen is yet to enter pleas to possessing a prohibited plant in respect of the 26.4g of cannabis or the two counts each of assaulting police and intimidating police as his lawyer continues negotiations with the prosecutor.

Blunt faced Port Macquarie Local Court on July 14 where there was a detention application due to an alleged breach of bail, as police allege Blunt was found occupying the driver’s seat of a car in contravention of his bail conditions.

Magistrate Georgina Darcy found the breach was established but took no action and Blunt’s bail was continued.

“It was pretty silly to do that,” Ms Darcy said to Blunt.

“You might find you won’t be so lucky if you breach bail again.”

Blunt’s matters were adjourned to August 3 while negotiations on the charges continue.
