Man’s body found on Pacific Highway nature strip at Johns River near Taree

Police have launched an investigation after a man was found dead on a Pacific Highway nature strip near Taree.
Manning Great Lakes Police District officers were called to the highway after the man’s body was discovered at Johns River, about 35km from Taree, about 5pm on Sunday.
Police “found a man deceased on a nature strip behind concrete barriers”, according to a statement.
The man ”is yet to be formally identified, but is believed to be aged in his 30s”.
Police set up a crime scene to investigate the circumstances of the man’s death.
Investigators have asked for witnesses to come forward to identify a man reportedly seen walking southbound on the highway between Kew and Johns River from Thursday to Sunday.
A report will be prepared for the Coroner.
