Woolworths at Forster is set to see the expansion of its click-and-collect services, with the installation of a series of direct-to-boot parking spots out the front.
A development application for Woolworths at Breese Rd earmarked the plan to “upgrade and improve the existing Woolworths supermarket”.
The project, which will include the construction of external facilities for customer pick-ups, is set to cost $875,000.
“This development application proposes(a) new external grocery loading zone for customers, new shop extension to pick-up servicing/home delivery area, new direct-to-boot signage, new shade sails to existing carparking, and new drainage connection to existing pit,” a planner for the project said.
“The proposed modifications consist of a new shop extension for the pick-up servicing/home delivery area, line-marking to assist in loading of goods into customer vehicles and shade sails to 100 existing carparking spaces.”
The external pick-up area will include six parking bays dedicated to customers collecting their orders via the contactless option.
Developers behind the now-approved plans say the works won’t disrupt the supermarket’s existing operating hours, staff numbers, or pedestrian access.
“All services required are currently available on the site and the proposal will place no additional load on existing infrastructure,” the plans outline.
“Site security is to be increased by the addition of the pick-up facility (as) the facility will be built in part of the carpark that, at present, has little to no casual surveillance.
“This improvement to the security of the site is a positive for both the store concerned, but also the nearby community as well.”
