A man in his 60s has faced a Mid-North Coast court on a long list of drug and gun charges. Police allege they found an illicit haul linked to a criminal group.

A man in his 60s free on bail after spending several months remanded in custody has faced a Mid-North Coast court on a long list of drug and gun charges.
Daryl Peter Young is from Carrai, a remote region northwest of Kempsey, where the offending is alleged to have taken place in the lead up to his arrest in February.
It was heard in Kempsey Local Court on Wednesday that Young suffers from Parkinson’s disease.
Young’s defence lawyer argued he should be excused from attending court on the next occasion. In July, Young was granted bail to live at Newcastle.
Young faces 11 charges – including participating in criminal group activity – and he has not entered pleas.
Court documents state police allegedly found 236 cannabis plants at a Cochrane Road property.
It’s alleged Young supplied greater than a large commercial quantity of cannabis and also that he cultivated greater than a commercial quantity of the drug.
He has also been charged with cultivating greater than a commercial quantity of a prohibited plant.
Young has also been accused of a raft of firearm offences including not keeping a gun safely, possessing an unauthorised firearm, not having an appropriate licence, possessing unauthorised ammunition and two counts of acquiring firearm parts.
The case has been adjourned to December 18.
