Police have arrested a man who alegedly hit a Mid-North Coast servo in the middle of the night and made off with cash.

A Gladstone man has been arrested in relation to an alleged armed robbery that saw a servo worker held up with what authorities believe to be a tyre iron.
About 3.20am on September 19, police allege a man – armed with a metal tool – entered the Ampol Foodary (the old Caltex) on Port Macquarie’s Lord St and threatened an employee, demanding money.
The man is alleged to have fled the scene on foot a short time later with cash.
Mid North Coast Police District officers have since established a crime scene, which was forensically examined.
Police have seized a vehicle they suspect is linked to the incident.
The man is currently at Kempsey Police Station, where he is helping officers with their investigation.
Detective Inspector Peter O’Reilly thanked the public for their help in identifying the 35-year-old man.
“Detectives have been on the job since yesterday, following up some inquiries,” he explained.
“The public’s help is greatly appreciated.
“So we’re very thankful the community has been able to assist us.”
Det Insp O’Reilly said the alleged incident was confronting for the worker who was just trying to “contribute to the community” by doing their job.
Charges have not been laid
On Tuesday morning police called on the public for help to identify the man.
