A Port Macquarie man has been charged after his van crashed off the side of a cliff and down an embankment before landing on the beach.

Alleged drunk driver flies off cliff, lands on beach

A Port Macquarie man has been charged after his van flew off the side of a cliff, rolled down an embankment and landed on the sand of a beach.

The 25-year-old is alleged to have been drunk behind the wheel at the time, with police claiming he blew 0.175 when breath tested.

Officers were first called to Flynns Beach about 2am on September 18, following reports the Toyota van had run off Tupperney Road.

The local man has been charged with high-range PCA and his licence was immediately suspended.

He is due to appear in Port Macquarie Local Court next Wednesday.
