Mona Vale records its first Covid case of latest outbreak
A new northern beaches suburb has recorded its first Covid case of the current outbreak. It comes as a primary school was shut down on Wednesday, due to a Covid positive student.

A new northern beaches suburb has recorded its first case of Covid since the latest outbreak began in June.
Mona Vale now has one case.
They are: Palm Beach, 1; Elanora Height, Narrabeen and Ingleside, 3; Cromer, Dee Why, 4; Allambie Heights, Beacon Bill, Brookvale, 6; Belrose, 4; Forestville and Killarney Heights, 3; Manly, 2; Frenchs Forest, 1 and Mona Vale, 1, Collaroy, 5.
In the last four weeks there have been 42 cases on the peninsula, and contact tracers are still trying to work out the source of the infection in seven cases.
NSW recorded 345 new locally acquired cases of Covid in the 24 hours to 8pm Wednesday night.
Of these 57 cases were infectious in the community, and the isolation status of 138 remains under investigation.
Two people also died of the virus, a man in his 90s from south west Sydney died at Liverpool Hospital and a man in his 90s died at Royal North Shore Hospital.

A northern beaches primary school has sent children home after it was advised that a student tested positive for Covid.
Wheeler Heights Public School asked for parents to collect children early on Wednesday after staff were contacted by NSW Department of Education to say a student was a confirmed Covid case.
Principal Simone Rizzuto said in a Facebook post at around 2.15pm that the “school site will be non-operational effective immediately”.
She said the school needed to be cleared to allow time for contact tracing and cleaning.
She also advised that the Wheeler Heights Public School OOSH will be non-operational during this time.
“All staff and students are asked to self-isolate until you receive further advice,” Ms Rizzuto wrote.
“The safety and wellbeing of our staff and students is of paramount importance to us at all times. As such we will continue to work closely with NSW Health to ensure that all necessary health advice is adhered to.
“While we recognise this will be disruptive and inconvenient for families, it is important that we follow NSW Health advice and take all necessary precautions to minimise the risk of further transmission to support our community.”
Ms Rizzuto said NSW Health has requested anyone who has been unwell or if they develop any symptoms such as a fever, cough, sore throat, shortness of breath, runny nose, loss of smell/taste, muscle/joint pains, diarrhoea, nausea/vomiting or extreme tiredness to be tested at one of the Covid testing clinics.
It is not clear how many children were in school at the time, as the majority are doing online learning at home.
The Education Department confirmed this afternoon that Wheeler Heights Public School was now closed for cleaning and contact tracing after a student tested positive to COVID-19.
“The Wheeler Heights Public School Out of School Hours (OOSH) service will also be closed during this time,” a spokesman said.
“All staff and students are asked to self-isolate and follow the NSW health advice and protocols.”

earlier on Wednesday Premier Gladys Berejiklian revealed that a man in his 30s from Northern Beaches Hospital had died from Covid.
He had underlying health issues.
A man in his 90s also died in Concord Hospital yesterday.
The two deaths come as the Premier revealed that there were 344 new cases of Covid recorded in NSW.
