“It’s a case of living the dream for me at the moment and I’m determined to work as hard as I can in training and on the field to ensure it lasts for many years to come,’’ Van der Saag said.

“I’m learning so much from the wonderful players around me in this squad and every day I come to work knowing it’s a privilege to be able to be a part of this club.”

The young star has recently been covering at right back for Ryan Grant after pulling on the Sydney FC jersey for the first time in a friendly against Paris Saint-Germain in July last year.

“Harry thoroughly deserves his contract extension,” said coach Steve Corica.

“He has done well when he has stepped up for us and is learning and improving all of the time.

“It’s important that he continues that for the next two years and with the right attitude I’m sure he will only get better.”
