Matt Preston’s search for the best bar on the northern beaches gave us a thirst, but we can now finally reveal who took out the region’s top gong.
Narrabeen RSL calls itself the “friendliest little club on the peninsula’.
Now it can say its popular outdoor “Sunk” cocktail bar is the best bar on the northern beaches — as voted by Manly Daily readers.
Described by locals as a “hidden gem” is a popular venue, known for its eclectic use of lounge suites, armchairs and old coffee tables, for catching up with friends on Fridays, Saturdays and Sunday.
Prior to the current Covid lockdown it was also offering full restaurant service available and catered for parties and gatherings of all sizes.
The bar, coming up to its eighth anniversary, has live solo musicians an singers and its Bluegrass Jam on the first Sunday of the month, form 4pm – 6pm, where people can bring their own stringed instruments and join is especially popular.
Club general manager Tracey Mihajlovic said on Friday that Sunk opens in the early afternoon about 10pm.
She said the clientele was multi-generational and attracted a lot of families.
“It’s a very different space to what you can get anywhere on the northern beaches.
“We provide a warm friendly space. It’s comfortable when you come in.
“There are the lanterns, the fire pits and in winter we’ve got the mulled wine and all that kind if stuff, the real winter warmers.
“And in summer it’s a great spot as well.”
