A man jailed for drug trafficking in Queensland 16 years ago has now been charged with supplying cocaine and ketamine after a police raid in Manly.

Robert Heiner, who is the chief executive of a well known building company in Cairns, also had $10,000 cash in a “hidden compartment” when police swooped on a studio apartment on Wednesday.

The Northern Beaches Police officers, armed with a search warrant, went to the Sydney Rd unit at the request of Queensland Police.

Police alleged in Manly Local Court that Heiner, 42, also had several vials of prohibited steroids in his possession.

The court was told that police allegedly found the cash in hidden wooden compartments “under the vanity”.

Another $3450 was allegedly found in a leather wallet beside his bed. Police also found another $2520 bundle of cash in the unit.

Police alleged in court documents that officers found 21, 10ml glass vials of “testosterone steroids” during the search at Manly.

They also allegedly discovered 17, 5ml glass vials containing “powdered testosterone steroids” in Heiner’s possession, along with 5.17g of cannabis.

Ketamine, weighing 23.12g, and 7.91g of cocaine were also found, police alleged.

Heiner has been charged with two counts of supplying a prohibited drug, three counts of knowingly deal with the proceeds of crime and three counts of possessing a prohibited drug.

During a bail application on Friday, the court heard that Heiner was currently on bail, granted by the Queensland Supreme Court, on 28 charges including choking a person in a domestic violence situation.

He was also facing drug possession charges in Queensland, the court heard.

Magistrate Janet Wahlquist heard that in 2009, Heiner had been convicted by the Queensland Supreme Court in Cairns of trafficking and supplying dangerous drugs. He was sentenced to three years’ jail.

Heiner’s Sydney barrister, AJ Karim, told Manly court that his client was the boss of Heiner Constructions, which employs 15 staff who were working on 100 projects.

Mr Karim argued that Heiner should be released from custody because he had no police record in NSW and the prosecution case against him was “inherently flawed”.

The lawyer said the tests used by the police to identify the drugs as cocaine, ketamine and steroids could have produced “false positive” results.

“It is a weak (police) case, relying on speculation.”

The court heard that Heiner told police that the cash found in the unit had come from the sale of motor vehicles.

Magistrate Wahlquist denied Heiner bail.

She said the 28 matters before the Queensland Supreme Court included serious domestic violence allegations, including strangulation.

The magistrate said the hidden compartment under the vanity appeared to be created for “hiding things”

Ms Wahlquist adjourned the matter for mention to the Sydney Downing Centre Local Court on April 24.
