Police are asking for the public’s help to track down a thief who held up a northern beaches service station at knifepoint.
The brazen robber, armed with a dark-handled kitchen knife, fronted a young male attendant behind the counter of the Budget Petrol service station in Harbord Rd, Freshwater, on February 21.
Police said the thief, with a grey scarf wrapped around the lower part of his face, entered the premises about 8.06pm and demanded the attendant hand over cash held in the till.
CCTV footage shows the robber, while clutching the 15cm knife, reaching over the counter to grab the cash and stuff it into a small black bum bag before he flees the service station at 8.08pm.
He was last seen heading towards Wyadra Ave.
Northern Beaches detectives have released the CCTV footage and still images of the thief to help identify the offender.
The images show the thief, who was not wearing gloves, has a distinctive pyramid-shaped tattoo on the back of his left hand.
A police spokesman said the attendant was not injured.
The thief is described as a caucasian male, about 180cms tall with a slim build aged about 25.
He was wearing a black long sleeved hooded jumper, black pants, black Nike shoes with a white tick symbol and carrying a black bum bag.
