A man has been rescued by a helicopter after he got stuck on a rock ledge at Clontarf, on Sydney’s northern beaches.
Westpac Life Saver Rescue Helicopter chief executive Stephen Leahy said his service was called to Washaway Beach shortly before midday after the man, aged in his 50s, got stuck on a ledge while out on a walk.
“The location was difficult for police and Fire and Rescue NSW crews (who were on the scene) to rescue the man … water police also attended,” Mr Leahy said.
“It was determined the safest way was to winch him off the rock ledge.”
After the man was retrieved from the rock ledge he was transported to nearby Tania Park, in Balgowlah Heights, where he was assessed by paramedics.
