A proposed apprehended violence order (AVO) against Sea Eagles star Dylan Walker has been withdrawn by police.
However, the force confirmed yesterday its appeal against his acquittal for assaulting his fiancee Alex Ivkovic is continuing.
The case was briefly back before Manly Local Court on Tuesday morning for the AVO to be withdrawn.
Ms Ivkovic’s lawyer Greg Walsh previously criticised police for pursuing the AVO, stating that his client did not want or need it.
Speaking yesterday he said Ms Ivkovic was relieved the issue had been resolved. “She’s very relieved that this saga has come to an end,” Mr Walsh said.
“It’s been going on for 12 months and she has a young family and she has found the entire process very distressing.”
However, a force spokeswoman confirmed the matter is not yet concluded with police continuing appeal action against the 24-year-old’s acquittal.
Mr Walker stood trial in May for charges of common assault and assault occasioning actual bodily harm.
Prosecutors had alleged the NRL star pulled his fiancee to the ground by her ponytail following an argument outside their Dee Why home in December.
However, Magistrate Michelle Goodwin cleared him of all charges, stating she could not be satisfied beyond reasonable doubt of his guilt. Mr Walsh has previously said police are targeting Mr Walker because of his high profile standing.
“She has a very close and loving relationship with Dylan Walker and does not wish to be involved any further in any court proceedings,” he said.
