Cavallino, Pilu and ICMS Grand Dining Room have Christmas in July dining events

Enjoy Christmas in July celebrations with turkey, snowflakes, mulled wine, traditional pud and Michael Buble.

Cavallino Ristorante in Terrey Hills has gone overboard to make its Christmas in July function wintry.

Guests start the night walking through a flurry of snowflakes created by a snow machine.

Dressing up as Santa, wearing Christmas-themed outfits or ski jumpers is encouraged and there are prizes for the best dressed.

The three-course dinner starts with antipasti platters, followed by a choice of four mains including a vegetarian option — potato gnocchi — as well as hearty slow-cooked veal osso bucco or traditional roast turkey.

There’s a choice of either panettone bread and butter pudding or pannacotta with orange caramel for dessert.

After dinner there’s a band playing covers as well as Yule tunes from crooner Michael Buble.

Pilu at Freshwater beach is saying “buon Natale” with a Sardinian-themed dinner on July 20. The night starts with a glass of mulled wine followed by three courses showcasing seasonal ingredients, restaurateur Giovanni Pilu said.

Highlights are ravilioni with black truffles, baby goat wrapped in pancetta and a panettone bread and butter pudding complete with malaga, a Sardinian take on rum and raisin gelato.

ICMS first-year hospitality students have set up the venue’s Grand Dining Room for a three-course weekday feast until August 12.

Guests can start with Asian-style smoked salmon with miso and sesame dressing before tucking into either a loin of pork or roast turkey with all the trimmings, or pumpkin gnocchi.

Finish with Christmas pudding with rum anglaise and crème Chantilly or an apple and caramel slice.
