ARTY baristas will show their coffee creations in the Second International Grand Latte Art Championship.
Brookvale coffee roaster Danes is hosting the competition at Victoria Bar & Grill in Chatswood on Friday.
Fifty-four competitors will impress the big guns of the coffee world with their swans and dragons.
The competition starts with the spin of a wheel. Once it stops, baristas must create the design. The best go to the next round.
The final four will take part in a latte Face Off with each barista selecting one of their own creations. The other competitors have to copy it.
Jibbi Little, the 2015 NSW latte art champion, Sean McManus and Instagram barista Timothy Sweet will judge the competition.
Danes head trainer Jon Saroglu said that the standard would be high.
“It takes a lot of practice to perfect latte art,” he said.
“Every design is tricky.”
Creating a swan or dragon needs a steady pour and right milk texture, he said.
Danes’ managing director Paul Jackson said that the competition celebrated the creative side of the industry.
The International Grand Latte Art is taking place at Victoria Bar & Grill, Victoria St, Chatswood, from 5-9pm.
Entry is $30 with refreshments. Door proceeds will go to Hope Global. .
