German baker Christian Tydecks is back.
Mr Tydecks recently opened Kneaded German Bakery in Dee Why.
Lovers of sourdough bread and continental cakes may remember him from Blue Moon in Newport. After a stint in Germany and travelling, the baker is back on the northern beaches doing what he loves best.
As well as rye, white and multigrain loaves, he makes a sourdough with reduced, caramelised onions.
Sweet treats include German favourites such as baked cheesecake with sour cherries and traditional Linzer torte, made with hazelnut, almond meal and raspberry jam.
Former Boathouse executive chef Tom Eadie has the social media world aflutter with his latest project, the artisan Brookvale bakery he opened mid year.
Berkelo has more than 8600 followers on Instagram, who follow his posts of sourdough loaves, cakes and healthy lunchtime goodies such as crackers topped with house-cured fish, fennel and miso sesame powder.
Love chocolate cake? Then go to Mrs Jones The Baker in Freshwater. Timeout rates its flourless creation one of the best in Sydney.
There are artisan loaves, cakes, coffee and even a gelato bar. In a nod to the bakery’s location, owners Lucy and Barry Jones created the Freshie thong. Edible footwear made with ingredients like chocolate and salted caramel. It’s a winner any time.
