Woman in ‘serious condition’ after being hit by car on Guernsey Ave, Minto
The woman had been walking across the pedestrian crossing outside a public school when she was hit by a car, emergency services were told.

A beloved crossing guard has been taken to hospital after she was hit by a car while monitoring a pedestrian crossing outside a school in southwest Sydney while police have launched an investigation.
Emergency services were called to the scene outside Sarah Redfern Public School on Guernsey Ave, Minto just after 3pm on Wednesday after reports a school crossing supervisor had been hit by a vehicle.
“We responded with three ambulance road crews as well as the Toll Rescue Helicopter and a specialist medical team” a NSW Ambulance spokeswoman said.
“There was one patient, a female believed to be aged in her 50s, who had a suspected fractured arm, cuts, bruises and she was complaining of chest pain.
“She was taken in a serious condition to Liverpool Hospital by a road ambulance.”
The spokeswoman said paramedics had been told the woman had been walking across the pedestrian zone when she was hit. NSW Police also attended the scene.
A NSW Police spokeswoman said an investigation is underway after the school crossing supervisor was struck outside the school in Minto.
She said officers found a 53-year-old woman suffering a broken arm as well as chest and facial injuries.
“Police have been told the woman was on the pedestrian crossing when she was struck by a silver Subaru XV travelling north,” she said.
“Police have been told her injuries are not considered life-threatening.
“The driver of the SUV, a 31-year-old woman from Leumeah, was taken to Campbelltown Hospital for mandatory testing. Her vehicle has been towed for forensic examination.”
A spokeswoman from South Western Sydney Local Health District said the woman was in a critical but stable condition.
Comments of support for the woman have poured out on social media.
“Yes it was our lovely crossing lady from Sarah Redfern Public School, prayers are with her and her family,” Carmen Jackson wrote.
“Poor woman. Hopefully she recovers quickly,” Karen Holahan added.
