A teenage girl has been charged with allegedly assaulting three staff members at a high school in Sydney’s southwest, along with two police officers during her arrest.
Campbelltown police were called Ingleburn High School around noon midday on Wednesday, following reports of an assault on school grounds.
A police statement said officers were told a girl had allegedly assaulted three staff members before she left the school.
Shortly afterwards, police attended a home in Oran Park where the teenager allegedly assaulted two police officers while resisting arrest.
She was taken to Narellan police station and charged with three counts of common assault, two counts of assaulting a police officer in execution of duty without actual bodily harm and hindering or resisting a police officer in execution of duty.
The teenager was granted conditional bail to appear in court on June 2.
A NSW Department of Education spokeswoman confirmed on Thursday night that staff members at Ingleburn High School had been “impacted” by an incident at the school on Wednesday.
The department said it was “working closely” with police, who have launched an investigation.
“The safety and wellbeing of students and staff are our highest priorities,” the spokeswoman said in a statement.
“The Department is supporting two staff members impacted by the incident at the school yesterday.
“Violence of any kind is unacceptable in NSW schools and swift action has been taken against the student involved.”
A NSW Ambulance spokesman said they were unable to provide details of the injuries sustained by staff members, due to protocols preventing the disclosure of information involving other government departments.
They could also not confirm reports that at least one of the alleged victims, a senior staff member, had been hospitalised.
