A woman has been charged after a pedestrian died in hospital following a crash at Narellan last month.

An 81-year-old Narellan woman was walking across Camden Valley Way, Narellan, about 1.20pm on May 9 when she was allegedly struck by a BMW.

The driver, a 60-year-old woman from Carnes Hill, stopped and rendered assistance to the pedestrian and was assisted by other members of the public.

Officers from Camden Police Area Command established a crime scene and with the assistance of the Metropolitan Crash Investigation Unit commenced an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the crash.

The older woman was taken to Liverpool Hospital in a critical condition where she later died.

The driver was uninjured but was taken to hospital for mandatory testing.

About 3pm yesterday, the driver attended Liverpool Police Station and spoke with investigators where she was charged with dangerous driving occasioning death and negligent driving occasioning death.

She was granted conditional bail to appear at Campbelltown Local Court on Monday.

Her drivers’ licence was also suspended.
