UNITED Cinemas have unveiled the first look of the proposed multipurpose entertainment precinct, promising to revolutionise entertainment in southwest Sydney.

The four-storey, $22.7 million entertainment complex will feature nine cinema screens, three drive-through restaurants, three indoor recreation areas and a food court.

United Cinemas chairman Roy Mustaca said it will be an entertainment landmark for the region.

“Gregory Hills United Cinemas will be everything Narellan couldn’t be,” he said.

“We want to give people a big, bold experience — we want to give people a real wow factor.

“They want the big bang, the big screen — what you can’t get at home.”

The proposed entertainment precinct, to be located at 2-64 Steer Rd, Gregory Hills, promises to be home to the largest cinema screen in the region.

“Every complex has to have its own point of difference and in that part of Sydney, the site lends itself to house such a large screen,” Mr Mustaca said.

“We had certain constraints at Narellan Town Centre 10 years ago and weren’t able to have screens as big as we hoped.

“This site allows ourselves to house a much larger screen than we previously could — it will give the people something bigger and better.”

The company hopes the complex will be open in 12 month’s time.

The precinct would include more than 6000 sqm of indoor recreation space, potentially home to arcade-style games and kid’s soft play, transforming the cinema complex into a stand-alone entertainment precinct.

“It will be a building that can cater to all ages as an entertainment space,” Mr Mustaca said.

“It is more of a place for five hours of entertainment — trampolining, amusement machines, restaurants all the way to kid’s soft play.”

Mr Mustaca aspires for the complex to be open within 12 months, pending approvals.

“If council waved their magic wand it would be great to open this time next year,” he said.

“We hope the Council and councillors embrace it with open arms and give the people of Gregory Hills, Oran Park and Camden region a purpose-built entertainment precinct, not just a cinema.”

The complex would showcase United Cinema’s signature two tier seating design, as well as housing the latest digital screen and sound technology.

The development application was lodged in December last year.

It follows the approval of SOMA Lifestyle in Gregory Hills late last year, featuring a cinema complex, two hotels, indoor recreation centre and restaurants.
