An early Christmas present is coming to Gregory Hills, with the long-awaited $30 million neighbourhood shopping centre approved today.
Featuring two supermarkets, a medical centre and outdoor alfresco restaurant area, the development was approved by the NSW Government South West Sydney Planning Panel.
Dart West Developments general manager David Taylor, delivering the neighbourhood shopping centre on behalf of landowner Marist Brothers, said the project’s approval was a huge relief to the community.
“It is a good feeling - it has been the final piece of the puzzle,” he said.
“This has been promised to our residents who are keen to see it happen and we look forward to making it happen.”
The future of the shopping centre was clouded in October, following the development approval of Grima Brothers by Camden Council.
The new 5.3ha centre will include 455 car parking spaces and specialty stores.
Less than a kilometre away on Gregory Hills Drive, a $100 million lifestyle centre was approved, featuring two hotels, restaurants, cinema complex and an indoor recreation centre.
