Police rule out bikie links to Elderslie house fire
Police investigating the fatal house fire of an Elderslie family home have ruled out any outlaw bikie connections to the deadly blaze, however, have identified a number of persons of interest.
Police investigating the home invasion and fatal house fire of a suburban Elderslie home last month have ruled out any bikie connections to the deadly incident.
Strike Force Cavengh, made up of detectives from Camden Police Area Command and the Homicide Squad, continue to examine what is believed to be a planned and targeted attack on a family home.
On Saturday June 1, a fiery blaze erupted in the front room of the Crank Place, Elderslie house with up to seven occupants inside.
Police were told three men entered the home about 11.30pm when neighbours heard shouting and loud banging.
One neighbour told The Daily Telegraphshe saw the intruders carry jerry cans into the house.
Witnesses then saw the occupants and two suspected intruders flee the blaze, which ultimately took the life of suspected intruder 21-year-old Hayden Forrest.
The suspected intruders then sped away in a getaway car.
No charges have yet been laid in relation to the incident, which took place 38 days ago.
Camden PAC crime manager Chief Inspector Shane Woolbank told the Chronicle investigations were continuing.
“There are a number of lines of inquiry and a number of persons of interest that we have identified.” he said.
“We believe it was a targeted attack and we are making inquiries into the persons identified.”
When asked if police were still investigating possible bikie links, Det Insp Woolbank said that line of inquiry had been “negated”.
The suspected getaway car has been identified and analysed by police, Det Insp Woolbank said.
It is understood there is about four persons of interest.
