BMW driver faces court over elderly pedestrian death

A BMW driver charged with dangerous driving occasioning the death of an 81-year-old female pedestrian on Narellan’s Camden Valley Way has appeared before the courts for the first time.

A Carnes Hill woman accused of dangerous driving and causing the death of an 81-year-old pedestrian at Narellan has appeared in Campbelltown Local Court.

Zenaida Dimarucut, 60, appeared briefly before the court registrar today in relation to two charges, being dangerous driving occasioning death and negligent driving occasioning death.

The fatal incident took place about 1.20pm on May 9 when the accused, driving a BMW, collided with the elderly victim walking across Camden Valley Way.

Ms Dimarucut stopped and rendered assistance following the crash, and was assisted by other members of the public.

The victim was taken to Liverpool Hospital in a critical condition where she later died.

Charges were laid on the Carnes Hill woman on June 13, more than a month following the fatal incident.

She has not yet entered a plea.

The matter will return to Picton Local Court on Tuesday, September 10.
