Police raided a property in Picton’s CBD today, searching for chemicals that could be used to make drugs or a homemade bomb.

Police raided a property in Picton’s CBD today, searching for chemicals that could be used to make drugs or a homemade bomb.

It is understood the operation, which began at 9.30am, was focused on a back shed an Argyle St property.

Channel Nine reported police were searching for acetone-based chemicals that are used in paint thinner, antiseptic that can be used drugs or explosives.

The same elements were used in the 2005 London Underground attacks which claimed the lives of 52 people.

A NSW Police State Crime Command spokeswoman said nothing of interest has been found so far.

Dozens of specialist services were at the scene, including NSW Police, Fire and Rescue, Hazmat and NSW Ambulance.

The search is expected to continue tomorrow.
