A man has been charged with commercial drug supply after 65kg of cannabis was allegedly seized, hidden inside arcade machines in Sydney’s south west.
Hussein Jaafar, 39, of Gregory Hills, was arrested following a vehicle stop in Casula about 2.30pm yesterday.
Detectives from Strike Force Shaughnessy searched the Pantech truck and allegedly found 65kg of cannabis hidden inside four arcade machines.
After the arrest, three search warrants were executed at homes in Harrington Park, Edmondson Park and Glenfield in which $25,000 cash, an air rifle, a taser, a Rolex watch, electronic storage devices and mobile phones were seized.
Three vehicles, including a 2015 AMG Mercedes Benz, 900g of cannabis and 200g of cocaine were also seized by police.
The man was taken to Liverpool Hospital before being taken to Liverpool Police Station, where he was charged with commercial drug supply and knowingly deal with the proceeds of crime with intent to conceal.
Jaafar appeared before Liverpool Local Court this afternoon with bruises and abrasions on his face and head.
He did not enter pleas to either charge, and his lawyer Derek Drewett did not apply for bail, which was formally refused.
His matter was adjourned to June 1 for service of the brief of evidence, and Mr Drewett indicated there may be a release application on that day.
Investigations under Strike Force Shaughnessy are continuing.
