Oran Park: Greenfields Development Company says six-storey buildings ‘only the start’

From an iconic racetrack to six-storey buildings, the new tallest building in the Camden area has been unveiled in Oran Park with the promise of it being “only the start”.

Flythrough of proposed Oran Park Podium expansion

The journey from iconic racetrack to one of southwest Sydney’s leading commercial centres has been recognised with a special ceremony held 24m off the ground in Oran Park today.

A landmark moment for the young suburb was celebrated on the rooftop of the Camden area’s new tallest building as part of a ‘topping out’ ceremony for the $28.5 million project by Greenfields Development Company.

The six-storey building, to be known as TRN House, will accommodate up to 880 workers when complete early next year.

“This is only the start of the growth within the town centre itself,” said Greenfields director Mark Perich.

“(Oran Park) is not only delivering residential development but it is also delivering jobs.

“We’re looking forward to having a 12-storey building on top of the shopping centre (as part of the proposed stage two expansion). We feel high now, but we are going to even further.”

The suburb, which only 20 years ago was only home to dairy cows and Oran Park Raceway, will ultimately feature more than 150,000sq m of office space alongside a projected population of 45,000 people.

TRN House, located adjacent to the proposed location of the future Oran Park Station, will be the new home for earth works company TRN Group as well as accountant and law firms.

Shire Medical Imaging will take up the entire ground floor of the new complex.

Major growth is expected in the CBD in the near future with a twin commercial building proposed next to TRN House while a $160 million expansion of the nearby Oran Park Podium shopping centre is currently being assessed. Both projects have been lodged by Greenfields Development Company.

TRN House, built by Richard Crookes Construction, is expected to be complete by March next year.

“While this ‘topping out’ ceremony celebrates a key milestone, it’s also an opportunity for

us to thank all the subcontractors, consultants and suppliers who have been an important part of the delivery of this project” Richard Crookes Construction CEO George Bradas said.

The ‘topping out’ ceremony is an ancient tradition of a tree being placed on the roof to celebrate the completion of the building’s highest point.
