A man who hunted three innocent passengers of a Holden Commodore before robbing them at gunpoint in a desperate search for $2000 has been committed for sentence in Campbelltown District Court.

Dean Achurch, 30, of Minto was driving his Mitsubishi Magna with Bradley Wiles and Jackson George in Bradbury about 7pm on January 29 with the trio allegedly deciding to target a Holden Commodore and rob the passengers at gunpoint.

Police allege Mr George owned the shortened rifle used in the horrific ordeal. He has not yet entered a plea to five charges, including armed robbery.

The horrific ordeal took place on Appin Rd (pictured) in January.

Mr Achurch began to intimidate the Commodore on St Johns Rd, Bradbury in his Mitsubishi Magna, repeatedly tailgating the car before he overtook it and blocked its entry to a roundabout.

The 30-year-old yelled at the victims, a male driver and two female passengers, to “get out of the f**king car” as Mr George allegedly pointed the rifle at the car.

The car escaped but, only minutes later, Mr Achurch crashed into the side of the Commodore at another roundabout, causing it to spin out on the side of the road.

The Commodore escaped once more and began to race down Appin Rd before the car broke down. Mr Achurch then parked the Magna in front of the victim’s car and began to demand $2000.

Mr Wiles allegedly taunted the male victim, threatening to shoot him before asking “why are you shaking for? Be a man”.

Police allege he fired a shot into the bonnet of the Commodore as the male victim sat in the driver’s seat. Mr Wiles has denied all charges and has been committed for trial in Campbelltown District Court.

Mr Achurch stole $50 from one of the female victims before the trio fled the scene.

The Minto man then dumped his hoodie along Appin Rd before leaving the car on foot. He was arrested by police at a Caltex service station shortly after.

The 30-year-old has pleaded guilty to aggravated armed robbery in company, aggravated assault and fire firearm in a manner likely to injure.

The matter will return to Campbelltown District Court on November 1.
