Ingleburn man accused of touching sleeping woman on train appears before court
A 29-year-old sleeping woman woke up on a train near Minto with a man allegedly touching her thigh. A man appeared in court today charged with sexually touch another person without consent and common assault.

An Ingleburn man accused of inappropriately touching a sleeping woman on a train has briefly appeared before Campbelltown Local Court today.
Registrar Alanna Kill heard that 22-year-old Anish Shakya and his five supporters were keen to see the matter dealt with as soon as possible.
However, the matter was adjourned for seven weeks to allow police to respond to presentations made by Mr Shakya’s lawyer Dilip Rai.
Police allege a 29-year-old sleeping woman woke up on a train near Minto on Thursday, August 8 to Mr Shakya touching her thigh.
He is then alleged to have touched her further sexually before she moved away. The alleged incident was later reported to police.
The Ingleburn man was arrested by police five days later at Glenfield Station following an investigation by Police Transport and Public Safety Command’s Strike Force Artemis.
He was charged with sexually touch another person without consent and common assault. No pleas have yet been entered.
The matter will return to Campbelltown Local Court on December 9.
Mr Shakya’s bail conditions, which include being banned from the state’s entire rail network, will continue.
