THE state’s largest private hospital will be built in Gregory Hills after the NSW Government approved concept plans of the $330 million, six-storey facility.
The 473-bed private hospital, called Camden Medical Campus, is projected to create more than 2000 jobs, alongside the SOMA Health Hub and retail, lifestyle outlets.
It is hoped the first stage of the hospital will open in 2020.
Gregory Hills Corporate Park director Satwant Calais said residents would experience the highest level of health services.
“This hospital will give residents in Camden and the greater South West Sydney region access to cutting edge health services,” he said.
“Camden Medical Campus will be purpose-built to accommodate the latest health technology and the most modern models of integrated care.”
One of Australia’s top hospital demand analysts, Greg Hardes of Hardes and Associates, said the hospital was sorely needed.
“Medium and long-term population growth in the south west development corridor provides significant opportunities,” he said.
“For the private sector, this includes development of a locally-based large private hospital and day surgeries as well as the opportunity to assist the public sector to meet the significant increase in public hospital demand.”
The hospital is set to be the first private hospital to be delivered within a mixed-use precinct, situated among leisure, entertainment, hotels, and commercial buildings.
It will service the needs of the growing population of the region, with more than 300,000 residents projected to be in the area in the next 10 years.
